Frogland - A series of animated figures executed by the Russian Art Society. Satire - Early Animation. Titles - Once upon a time the Frogland Commonwealth waxed so prosperous that its heavy thinkers acquired the human trait of sitting around and making wise croaks against the Government. So they called a special session of wise croakers & toad stool pigeons of the nation to do something about it. 05:54:30 - Animation begins - meeting of toads making speeches, Titles - Fellow croakers, our Democratic form of government is all wet. Let us beseech Jupiter to send us a king. Animation - frogs look skywards - Jupiter in the clouds - frogs blow bubbles towards Jupiter Titles - Oh omnipotent Jupiter, please send us a king. Our present authorities are full of hops. Animation - Frogs pray - Jupiter sends down lightning bolt. Titles : A Heaven splitting crash, a terrifying splash and lo, the King. Animation - frogs hiding Titles - At length the bolder spirits form a reception committee Animation - frogs make leaf boats and approach King which resembles an ugly tree trunk - they wave and prod him but no reaction Titles - Out upon him. He is but a blockhead. Animation - Frogs throw mud at King and send more bubble messages to Jupiter. Title - Give ear oh Jupiter. Instead of a king thou sendest us presidential timber. Back to the woods with him. Animation - Jupiter. Title - These frogs know not when they are well off. They ‘re almost human. Animation - Jupiter is advised by man to send a stork for King. Frogs greet him and pay homage - frog with movie camera - frogs getting drunk and then being eaten by stork. Title - News of the king’s appetite spreadeth throughout the Kingdom Animation - Frogs tell Jupiter they are fed up with this King - he gets angry and rains thunder and lightning down on them.
