Titles. 10:07:27 SOF Two boys ca 10 years old, John & Jimmy in bedroom at card table sanding model airplane parts; talk about baseball game. Jimmy sneezes & John complains that he should cover mouth. Sneezes again, half-heartedly covers mouth. “Can’t you cover your whole mouth...then you better do it...” 10:08:35 John laying on couch sick; sits up when he hears the door. 10:08:46 Mother at door looking worried; feels John’s forehead. 10:09:18 John sneezing into baseball glove. Mother takes his temperature;.takes off coat & hat looking strangely at boy. Tells him to go upstairs “...and rest.” 10:10:38 Mother to phone, dialing telephone; CU talking to doctor. 10:11:09 CU of doctor on phone. 10:11:25 Doctor examines John in office lying on table, doctor tapping chest, has him sit up and listens w/ stethoscope to breathing & coughing. Tells boy to say 99, John does many times. Whispers numbers. Doctor asks if he was around anyone w/ cold. CU doctor. John tells of Jimmy sneezing. Doctor says could be other things: over tired etc. 10:14:05 John puts on tie; doctor warns against pneumonia & tries to explain w/ drawing to show cold virus can become pneumonia as it may grow & help bacteria. Shows sinus & ears as possible destination for infection. Then points out lungs. Tells him to use papertissues when coughing or blowing his nose & burn them afterwards. 10:16:54 John & mother into house; boy says how good the doctor’s advice was. Mother looks forgivingly at him.
