03:43:30 Marty remembers other times: Giving book report in class “as though there was a spotlight on me.” Marty taking date home & spotlight comes on him. Then trying out for play, decides not to. Back to party on stage & Marty gets up & leaves.

03:47:56 Marty decides to try out for play. Reads lines; realizes that he has to fight self-consciousness. Reads lines in mirror; then for family. Then with group and keeps situation under control by thinking about other people. Talking w/ two girls. In class. Goes to soda fountain, overcomes the self consciousness.
