The Voice of the Violin Young man (Jack) shaving with dog, hears woman playing piano and joins her to play violin. Evil suitor (Herbert) arrives with flowers and talks with father. He interrupts the music session and offers the girl flowers and jewel. Jack sees his girl with suitor wooing her. Goes back to his room and looks at picture of his girl. Herbert escorts girl back home after theatre and calls loose woman on telephone. Street scene in front of violin teacher’s house. Whilst father is chauffeured to office in automobile, violinist Jack pawns his violin, a Stradivarius, saying he wants to go away. In lawyer’s office, brothers receive a legacy. Violinist Jack gets his violin back. Herbert in casino. Jack and girl play “The Feast of the Flowers”. Father interrupts and reprimands son for squandering his legacy on a fiddle. Herbert in casino has lost his money. Caught by Jack robbing safe, but evil brother turns situation around and had kind brother accused and thrown out of house. Herbert spends money from safe on an I.O.U. at casino. Violinist in NYC. I.O.U man claims money at father’s house and gives the game away. In New York, Jack comes out of employment office and sighs. Remorseful father has a search conducted. Laments with girl. Jack in front of shop gives money to beggar woman. Jack at Washington Square Arch shows off his violin to man in top hat. Father and girl go to Edison shop where they ask for “The Feast of the Flowers” to be played. Girl recognises sound of Jack’s violin. Drive automobile in streets to Edison Works where records are made. Family is reunited. TITLE: “What a wonderful instrument! What wonderful factories!” Jack shows them the laboratories. Pan of factory buildings. More titles to the glory of Edison recordings.
