The 28th Infantry occupies Chevenges; the 5th F.A. and 26th Inf., Nouart; Rear view, troops down muddy narrow lane. Troops thru town on & alongside pack mules & wagons. Troops past Army car w/ bear symbol on door. Teams pulling field artillery. Single file under cover of hedgerows down muddy road towards church.
03:26:10 Arriving soldiers greet local girls & children. Wagons parked & troops assembled along town street. 03:26:49 Troops in town square welcomed by children & local priest who wave goodbye. LS walking out of town across wide valley past wagons & smoking cook fires.
03:27:44 Column / convoy of trucks & wagons up hillside road. Officers in car out & look at map & road sign for La Neuville, Sedan & map, back into car & leave.
03:28:20 Pan over damaged farm buildings w/ large observation tower on ridge. Large smoke cloud on horizon. CU damage to church spire.
03:30:05 Troops in rain along country road; thru mud in woods towards camera.
03:31:01 Column of troops approach on muddy road; well dressed refugee women talking to General Parker & French officers.
03:31:38 Town buildings & soldiers up lane behind. Soldiers run thru town; others run for cover past small abandoned tank. Others running up road w/ church in background.
03:33:22 Abandoned (?) field artillery being cleaned for firing. Near Romagne, France, 1st Engineers laying telephone wires & man on tree attaching beside collapsed wooden barn or ?? & setting up control point in it. Messenger sent off.
