MS on flag pole in wind, tilt down to mounted officers in front of barracks posing, riding off r. to l. CU of ?? on horseback talking to seated and standing GIs wearing helmets.
02:35:39 LS pan of barracks / buildings.
02:36:29 Five officers standing, talking & gesturing; walk over to soldiers training w/ bayonets. Troops run w/ bayonets toward officer who’s picked up pole w/ hoop on end, soldiers try to spear hoop. Practice bayonet thrusts in groups, other hand-to-hand combat practice.
02:38:09 Soldiers run w/ bayoneted rifles & catch / spear hoops on posts.
02:38:23 Line of soldiers w/ rifles run up mounded bank as though out of trench; spear bags on ground & hanging / swinging from ropes.
02:38:41 Troops in lines given order & put on gas masks, replace helmets; remove gas masks. On march along road stop & put on gas masks, continue. LS walking across grain field into gas (?) in distance.
02:40:26 Soldier put up pole w/ guy ropes on hillside above barracks. MS on ground receiving telegraph signals & copying onto paper. Soldier on telephone or electric pole.
02:41:05 Mounted officers along road past farm w/ motorcycle, bicycle & trucks following. Along country road but without the trucks. MS passing / marching thru village.

02:43:26 Field kitchen beside road serving troops.
02:43:47 LS many soldiers running up hillside. MCU soldiers resting beside shocks of grain. Listening on field telephone. Soldier hiding in shocks of grain signaling w/ blinking / flashing light, crawls out w/ cases. LS many troops advancing across field. Arriving at fence; officer talking. LS troops approaching camera, pan across field; troops cross road, climb over hedge.
02:46:57 Soldiers in grain or grass field, groups run forward. Mark on ground & others twist auger based fence posts in & string barbed wire & tie together; run off.
02:50:12 Kneeling troops near barbed wire, stand & run forward.
