The Bridge Die Brucke Reel 2 of 2 Documentary on the Berlin airlift of 1948-49 told from the points of view of a resident of Berlin and an American pilot. The Berliner works at the airfield & befriends the American pilot: waits for him to fly in after mission and gives him a musical teddy bear for his children - pilots dance briefly on runway. Pilot in cockpit w/ bear - realises human side to the 2 million Berliners being supported by the airlift. Pilot arrives home to family, gives teddy bear to daughter. INT cargo hold of C-54 - good shots pilot dropping his candy ration out of window attached to little parachutes - children of Berlin run to catch it below. LS plane landing & taxiing; Berliner friend shows pilots newspaper headline reporting a demonstration he staged outside Reichstag against Soviets; VS demonstration in action - crowd of 300,000 filling square outside Reichstag. Supply planes flying in foggy conditions; staged shot of Berliner walking home, looks up at sound of explosion; supply plane crashed & in flames - firefighting - cargo & pilots saved. AV pan across airfield w/ parked planes. CU propeller turning superimposed over montage of airlift & team work; seaplane taking off; crowd of children visit Templehof airfield, meet pilots.
