10:26:06 Slate 01Mar66 Motorized raft to USS Fort Snelling (LSD-30). Deep diving submarine Alvin in water beyond, coastline visible. Raft out to meet, pulled in by men with lines to flooded well deck of ship, tail gate closed, crane attached to Alvin & lifted from water & placed on blocks.

NOTE: On 17Jan66 a SAC B-52 carrying four B28 thermonuclear (hydrogen) bombs collided in mid-air w/ KC-135 tanker while refueling. 3 bombs were found on shore, high explosives in two had detonated on impact scattering plutonium dust over several hundred acres. After 80 days the fourth bomb was found.
