Alice, newspaper seller at outdoor stand; Tony the barber, buys paper & they eye each other; he buys her a flower, tips hat & walks off to barbershop nearby. Barbers giving shaves. Others buy newspapers, she looks at flower & they think of each other.
20:28:59 Tony not paying attention as he sharpens razor blade, continues shaving customer while staring off thinking. Customer disgusted, gets up & leaves.
20:29:41 Title: The Betrothal. Tony gives arm to Alice & walks her home; he offers her a ring & necklace. They kiss, hug. He leaves, she falls to knees.
20:30:58 Title: Next Day. Alice closing newsstand, Tony gives her arm & they go to her house.
20:31:39 Title: Her Sister Florence w/ Her Vaudeville Partner, Mack, Arrives Off The Road. Mother, Kate Bruce, greets them; they do a little dance; walk in to next room & meet sister & barber who falls for newly arrived sister. Strong looks as they leave.
20:33:26 Title: Later - Tony Transfers His Affections To Florence. Tony ducks past newstand, goes & meets sister who says no. Alice bursts in as they are hugging; she smiles & he looks guilty as sister cries.
20:34:37 Alice returns to newsstand; Florence & Tony hug & he leaves happy.
20:34:58 Title: On The Night Of The Barbers’ Ball. Florence dressed up, Tony arrives & helps her on w/ coat. Alice sitting in her room as they pass & Tony explains. Alice smiles, then runs to door w/ arms outstretched after they’ve left.
20:35:50 Couples dancing, some tipsy; band on stage playing. Tony & Florence dancing.
20:36:14 Title: Excessively Romantic, She Would Emulate The Novel Heroine. Alice w/ pistol intercut w/ sister dancing. Fires pistol as Mack walks in giving him a scalp wound.
20:36:51 Title: Alice Tells Mack of the Inconstancy Of Florence And Tony. He strokes her arm & he asks her to dance, then they leave.
