Counterman talks about his son & state of the World. “The way things are going now....the World is going to pot fast & I don’t have much hope for it.” “Maybe that’s what the Christmas season is for Mr. Conner.” “It all seems pretty useless to me.” 06:12:15 Conner at typewriter in office, pulls paper out & reading it, wads it up. Takes off coat. Everyone is waiting for him to finish the editorial. Christmas bells playing. Editor drinks at water cooler, paces office; looks at Christmas tree & out window. “With the world falling to pieces what can you say that has any meaning? ...How long are those bells going on? Its enough to drive you crazy! Peace on earth, good will towards men.” 06:16:38 To Jimmy: “Get me the words to that music!” Jimmy recites, Conner types. Sends Jimmy for a bible. He brings small one back from is coat pocket. “How come you carry one? I like to look at it on my lunch hour...” 06:19:07 Montage: presses, papers off, onto trucks. Ed Taylor shows up & Jimmy & Marge tell him that Ed Connor went to church & told Pastor he wanted to join the church. Connor shows up w/ presents for everyone. Gives them all bibles.
