Lights up to Eddy & Nan - she asks him to turn down hi-fi - “had a rough day?” “What’s the matter Eddy?” 08:03:25 Gail & Dick from next door arrive unexpectedly, invite them in, Dick admires stereo. Can’t stay on way to church for Young Married Group meeting. Eddy & Nan say they’re too busy - “you are missed”. 08:04:49 Eddy: “I got fired today...” Worried about paying debts for car, hifi etc. bought on credit.” They talk. 08:06:08 Nan in Gail’s apartment, listen to classical music on stereo. “It has a lovely tone.” “It should after all the time Dick spent building it.” They talk about Eddy job hunting; needing to make cut backs. “Not that there’s anything wrong about installment buying, as long as you don’t over-do it.” “I envy you, you always seem to know the right thing to go about things, l wish I had more confidence Gail, like in handling our money...” Gail says there’s a talk on family budgeting at the Young Married Group, says they should come along - “At a time like this you need your friends at the church & your friends want to help in any way they can. Eddy suggests they look for a cheaper apartment, talk about whether to give up hi-fi. She suggests selling to her father - argue about finances then make up.
