1948 - United Nations Adopts Human Rights Declaration, 10Dec48 SOF MS Man speaking from podium before three microphones: “It’s no light task that we’ve accomplished hear. More than 50 nations w/ differing systems of governments...have come together & agreed...upon the articles in this declaration.” “...but it is an expression of world opinion as to what in our day & age the rights of men should be.” speaks of WWII because of break-down in Human Rights. 07:48:26 LS speaker below 3 men on dias. “Mr President, I therefore wish to record the United Kingdom sense of pride & privilege in taking part in framing this declaration...” 07:48:42 Man to podium, speaks SOF in Spanish on behalf of Mexican delegation 07:49:07 LS of delegates seated in tiers, including France & Iraq (?), Iraq delegate w/ hand raised; others raise hands voting including Iran (?), Ethiopian, Costa Rica & United States delegations. 07:49:32 SOF ...all against? Abstentions? ...adopted. Article 28... CU on dias of Trygve Lie on left; Australian moderating the meeting & announces vote of 48 to 0 for the adoption of Human Rights Declaration; then goes on to make personal comment about criticism against United Nations & Security Council.
