1952 - Training Films, Medical R2 Mary & man walking to house, interior w/ fire in fireplace. Husband stands be side it, then goes & covers up two children sleeping in bed. CU Mary rinsing hands in soap suds; assistant pours water over. Mary checks over supplies & location. Approves. Checks on woman patient Ida sitting in chair. Clock says 1:20 am. Sterilizing instruments on wood stove. CU pours boiling water, spreads towel on newspaper on table. Ida grimacing as Mary watches. 07:32:02 1:40 am Mary suggests Ida walk around a bit. Mary sits & rocks. CU Ida. Mary puts Ida to bed & takes off slippers. 07:33:46 2:35am on clock. Ida begins labor. Husband sitting rocking in front of fireplace. Mary & assistant preparing. Mary puts on smock. 07:35:04 CU Ida in labor. Mary scrubbing her arms & hands; assistant soaping her own hands. Mary looks at supplies. Empty crib w/ doll. 07:36:32 Mary begins to scrub Ida under sheet & soaks up fluid draining out. Tells Ida to start pushing & panting like a dog. Ida laughs. “What do you want this time Ida, a little girl or a boy?” 07:38:10 Baby begins to emerge. 07:41:05 Baby out & crying. Mary cleans it up. Ties & cuts the cord. 07:44:00 Cleans eyes. Wraps him up & places w/ mother. After birth removed & burned in fire. Cleans mother up. 07:46:20 Mary puts baby in cloth & weighs him. 07:47:38 Mother takes baby, begins feeding & Mary takes off apron. Father brings others children in to look.
