Grumpy cab driver Josh comes in after working; “rough night?” / “driving a cab they’re all rough”. Chuck goes out back to family apartment, mom pleased Roy being so helpful earning his keep, Chuck wishes he wouldn’t preach at customers. Josh: Will you shut that thing off!” Roy: “Sure, we aim to please.” Josh: “..between noise, people; no wonder I got an ulcer.” Roy tells him his friend got rid of an ulcer “...getting on the right diet...right food for his soul.” Aunt overhears him preaching - “the way you go around mad at the world, no wonder your stomach’s tied up in knots” / “Going around singing hymns ain’t gonna change nothin”. “I’m too old to be a new guy.” Boys off to school. 08:32:34 Josh tells Gert she needs to stop Roy’s preaching; there’s a new malt shop opening on corner: “if you get any competition you ain’t gonna win any customers mixing donuts and halos”. 08:33:34 Hotrod roadster w/ chromed engine parked outside school.
