VO by class teacher re importance of guiding each individual pupil & their needs. Film focuses on several pupil case studies. 23:04:27 Pan over students at desks reading. Teacher at desk studying file on Randy, slow reader; teacher visits Randy’s mother, finds Randy is skilled at building model ships & planes. INT classroom - teacher talking to Randy about model making, gives him book on the subject to encourage reading. 23:06:53 Excessively shy young girl Cathy; teacher phones Cathy’s mother to ask her to come into school - finds that family has moved several times ; encourages Cathy to interact w/ other pupils - asks two other girls in Girl Scout uniforms to encourage Cathy to join Girl Scouts. 23:10:06 Raymond - withdrawn young boy; helping build model of Daniel Boone’s cabin but trips up another boy; teacher VO “alternately a smart aleck and a clown, Raymond was a very disturbing influence in the classroom”.
