The Battle Against Shop 13 - Homefront Interior factory, man painting star on board - talks to camera saying each star denotes one of the workers that has joined up. Flashback to Pete who used to work on lathe before he went off to war. Pete created Shop 13, it became another name for the rubbish heap, Pete puts up caricatures of the enemy over rubbish heap. Man clocking in - had habit of turning up late for work, other workers pin label on him saying he worked for Shop 13. Rejects from factory went to Shop 13. Pete always ready to help out fellow workers, lifting heavy weights or lending money. Pete walking along road with girlfriend to Mothers house, kisses mother. 19:53:44 Pete playing baseball, all his family there to root for him. Pete hits a long one - hits Hitler caricature in Shop 13. Pete gets to third base and next batsman gets him home to win the championship. 19:55:02 Pete and other factory workers sitting around in break time chatting. Pete’s time card in rack, Pete’s girlfriend Helen comes into factory dressed for work, she takes over his job because Pete has joined the Navy. 19:55:54 Naval training camp - sailors marching. Aerial gunnery school, Pete firing machine gun. Gunner in fighter aircraft firing. Helen working at lathe - Pete in sailors uniform comes up behind her - kisses her, fellow workers make fun of them. 19:57:36 Aircraft in flight - Helen with letter from Pete. Sequence fighter planes diving on enemy ships, bombing and strafing. Aircraft flying through flak. 19:59:03 Helen at lathe - Helen gets letter to say Pete is a prisoner of Japanese. Wide shot factory working. Boss makes announcement, says Government listening station had picked up short wave radio broadcast from Tokyo which he plays off record over PA system. Broadcast was propaganda from the Japanese - they forced Americans to record them and Pete was on the broadcast. Shots loudspeakers as record played. Pete saying how well they are being treated - just like in Shop 13. Workers looking at each other knowing what Pete had really been telling them. Everybody gets back to work. Staged shots Pete in prison camp.
