How Honest Are You? Coronet Instructional Films Teenage boys in locker room getting dressed for a game; one of them, Bob, comes back & takes something from someone else’s locker. Cut to coach’s office, coach w/ vars teens, talks to camera “what did you see? Do you think Bob’s action was honest?” - coach & the various teens involved explain that incident brought them all together to discuss honesty. 06:01:49 Scene in locker room repeated - this time tracking shot reveals witness, Jim. Jim explains he put off making decision about what to do; flashback to Jim awake at night thinking & worrying in school; Jim sees Bob buying expensive pen & tells friends in diner booth about locker room incident - Rose urges him to report Bob, another boy tells him coach would kick him off team and he’s their star player. Teens discuss how they argued about whether to tell coach. 06:05:12 Boys in school gym, Terry almost tells coach about Bob stealing but others stop him in time. Rose describes how she then went to coach herself and told him what she thought was the truth - 06:05:53 Bob in locker room again, this time more obviously stealing money. Coach writes ‘FIND THE TRUTH’ on blackboard - tells Jim “you formed your hypothesis and jumped to your conclusion”. Group discusses how to “Express the truth” and “Know yourself”. Rose admits she had an ulterior motive in wanting her boyfriend to replace Bob on team - repeats what she told coach while disembodied voice announces what she really meant - cutaway to scenes of Bob being expelled & Terry becoming basketball star. Coach summarises how to be honest. 06:12:45 Bob tells them what really happened - says he bought pen with birthday money. Locker room scene repeated - Bob simply taking whistle to use in practice. Morality. Trust. Lying. Friendship. Loyalty. Tacky Dialogue.
