MCU in cockpit; out of plane & shakes hands, poses w/ Squadron leader Lt. John Thach. WW2; Irish-American; 1940s; NOTE: Became Navy’s first flying ace on 20Feb42 when he attacked a formation of nine heavy bombers approaching his aircraft carrier. Received Medal of Honor 21Apr42. Shot down during night mission 26Nov43 & never found. Chicago’s O’Hare airport renamed for him, 19Sep49.
