Slate: 31Jan68 Second Field Forces. Wilhite. Pan w/ soldier walking thru mess of rags, striped marker poles, grenades, bags, knapsacks. (PAVN equipment.)
12:23:48 CU dead; upper part of body, leg; corpse with smashed skull.
12:24:45 Pan, LS of area after sweep. APCs, soldiers walk past. Helicopter flies over wires and poles. Pan continues to wood shacks; a few soldiers run. Smoke in bg. LS, bunker in fg and beyond, flat area with barbed wire, wooden building.
12:26:19 Slate: as above. Soldiers follow M-113 APCs; advance in rubble. Two men w/ soldier who has been wounded slightly. Heavily burning shack. Wounded crawls close to APC.
12:27:21 Soldiers advance across brush; past shacks burning. CUs wounded. APCs past burning shacks. Soldiers between APCs fire rifles. Machine gun fired from APC. Soldiers firing M16 rifles as they follow APC. RV, they advance under cover of M113 APCs.
12:28:49 Slate: illegible. F4 (Phantom) jets (singly) in far distance drop napalm. Explosions. (overexposed).
12:29:44 UH1 helicopter on ground pocked w/ bullet holes.
12:30:17 Wounded Vietcong on ground; pan to other VCs, most of them dead. One sitting up & almost smiling.
12:31:33 Slate: as above. Helicopter over; Vietcong laying on ground outside barbed wire fence. Pan across the post area. Soldiers hugging side of sandbagged bunker during attack. Helicopter over. Shack burning seen thru barbed wire, tank moving & soldiers following as smoke moves in. Pan smoke & helicopters.
