MS Two airmen standing in front of biwing Salmoson 2 A2 (?) aircraft talking; they climb into plane; ground crewman turns propellor, engine starts. 02:28:23 LS crewmen remove chocks, stand at end of wings, one hangs on as plane taxiis to turn it. 02:28:43 Main takes off left to right, high in sky. 02:28:49 MS pilot & gunner helped dress into coveralls for flight at Gondrecourt as other military men watch. Climb into plane & prepare. Ground crew hands gunner camera who fits it into Spad VIII plane w/ film cases. Shake hands. Crewman shakes hands w/ gunner & gunner checks machine guns rotating & elevating on mount. 02:30:44 Plane no. 16 taxiing away from camera as ground crew watches. High over canvas hanger. NOTE: 91st was one of first five US Army Air Service flying squadrons to arrive in France, arriving at Chaumont Aerodrome, 15Nov17. Salmson 2A2 planes were delivered to 91st on 24May18 at Gondreville-sur-Moselle Aerodrome but combat duty of aerial reconnaissance didn’t begin until 03Jun18.
