Military hospital: CU blood dripping from coat slung over chair, broken pocket watch. Doctors and nurses w/ face masks extract bullet from wound; CU bloody bullet placed on piece of cloth w/ tweezers. 04:01:10 Troops run past burning log cabin. VS houses on fire - dead soldiers among ruins of village - black smoke clouds drift past church bell tower w/ Eastern European-style turrets. MS man in tower rings bells surrounded by smoke. Soldiers seen through window of burning cabin rushing past. MCU bellringer smiling. Brief shot of two soldiers hugging wives / girlfriends. Man continues to ring bells - body on floor of bell tower. LS warship in harbour w/ barrage balloon attached to tugboat passing in front.
