Developing Your Character Coronet Instructional Films 16:10:59 Man talks to camera “My name is Perry, my work is personnel counsellor & we’re going to talk about character...we’re going to talk to Bill”. Bill speaks; Perry responds, introduces Mrs. Carter. 16:11:45 Mrs Carter tells Bill why character is important...speaks to camera. “Good character means better group living.” Perry shows job application form to camera; says that the questions are set up to find out about character. 16:12:36 Shows cards of fired employees & reasons for dismissal. Poor work; irresponsible; petty theft; etc. 16:13:24 Bill at desk chewing on pencil, asks: What is Character? Perry says its the way you behave which comes from the way you think, feel, act. (Shows diagrams). This comes from influences: home, church, school, friends, etc. 16:14:34 Bill: “Do I control my character? Or do the influences.” 16:14:57 Mrs Carter describes the influences of slums. Visuals of dilapidated wooden buildings; kids play & walk about. Mrs Carter says this may lead to criminals. MCU Bill talks more about Jim having good character, asks how can you improve your character? Mrs. Carter explains... 16:18:15 Five year old boy in store steals cookies, store owner talks to him. He learns what it means. In same store later he wants to take cookies but doesn’t. Temptation. Later he comes back & doesn’t even think about stealing. Bill agrees with Mrs. Carter; decides how to begin changing his character to avoid making excuses for himself. 16:20:33 Bill talks to camera & summarizes what he should do. 16:20:58 Perry to camera: What about you?
