The sub must be towed to stay afloat and a destroyer can’t do it so Guadalcanal moves in to take her in tow. Captain directs operations - line taken to sub by whale boat. American sailors on deck and conning tower of sub. Sub under tow flying American flag. Guadalcanal under orders to head for Bermuda. Flight operations continue en route. Prisoners transferred to Guadalcanal. POWs exercised and given salt water shower with hose. Towing to be taken over by fleet tug. During transfer propellers on sub are freed giving power back to sub enabling tanks to be blown out. Sub seen flying US flag with Nazi flag underneath. June 19th U-505 towed into Bermuda harbour.
