Pt. 2 of 2 Mass produced Seehund (Seal) came into action in December 1944. German lowering into water, moving on surface thru water. View underwater & on surface. Interior w/ Captain calling orders and at periscope. Engineer at work firing; torpedo shown leaving sub & then diving. Cruising on surface w/ men riding on top. 04:15:05 Italian 20 ft. motor torpedo boat being lowered by crane. Retracting propellers shown w/ Alpha Romeo engines. Torpedo fired (dropped) and then boat turns aside. German version, the Wendell (?) boat, was streamlined narrow version. Two torpedoes were fired from stern, also had rocket launchers but needed calm seas. Views skimming the water at high speed. 04:16:55 Explosive boat used by Italians. Shown planing & turning motor so propeller could go over submarine nets as shown. Good footage running around. German truck pulled two trailers w/ “Lindsa” (sp?) motorboats under camouflage. Soldiers running boat w/ Ford V-8 like engine on trailer to water. Views from boat of these torpedo boats, aiming at target and then diving off at last moment. 04:18:56 Radio control equipment shown as used by pilot boat and two explosive boats which were controlled by pilot to last minute then pilot bailed out and final control was from pilot boat which also rescued the pilot. 04:19:49 New German Hind, a super one-man torpedo shown hoisted into the water. Was not used n the war. Italian SSB shown, also not finished before war’s end. Operators in frogmen’s gear shown operating. Underwater shots, surface shots including sharp turns & quick dives. Method of attack shown on surface attaching warhead charge.
