14:45:09 American Indian in head dress sings, smoke signal, Indians walk along with horses, carry canoes. Missionaries reach Lake Michigan w/ Indians.
14:46:52 Working steam engines in pageant: George Stephenson’s Rocket steam engine; The John Bull pulls passenger car. First railway train: the Best Friend of Charleston, built 1829; w/ passengers in period clothes. Dewitt Clinton engine w/ carriages, stage coaches on rails.
14:48:51 Tom Thumb engine (1821) designed by Peter Cooper. Race between Tom Thumb & horse drawn coach on rails. Horse wins.
14:49:40 The Atlantic Engine (1832) last of the upright steam engines. Gag as guard helps woman showing bloomers into coach. “Early 1840s“ firemen & citizens use water pump as they fear Chicago about to be engulfed by fire, turns out to be smoke from Baldwin built locomotive The Pioneer. Train past waving people.
14:51:42 1849 Gold Rush Covered wagons & horses recreate trek West w/ death on the trail. 1859 Wells Fargo coach & horses. Pony Express. Re-creation of stage coach held up.
14:54:48 1861 Abraham Lincoln speaking on leaving Chicago gets into horse & carriage. American Civil War - injured soldiers limp along. Train moving slowly w/ body of Lincoln accompanied by Blacks walking.
14:58:54 1856 RR beginning west: Cowboy & Indian fights. 10May69 Last rail link completed, Golden spike hammered as Union Pacific line is completed.
15:00:50 Steam engine & train of Santa Fe Railway Refreshment provisions include “Harvey Girls” dressed as waitresses sing Beautiful Dreamer. Frontier town cowboys, Can Can girls. Continued....
