Feb-Mar66 (Atomic Search)Palomares, Spain On 17Jan66 a SAC B-52 carrying four B28 thermonuclear (hydrogen) bombs collided in mid-air w/ KC-135 tanker while refueling. 3 bombs were found on shore, high explosives in two had detonated on impact scattering plutonium dust over several hundred acres.
