Trip To West Germany - Trip To West Germany, Greeted by Chancellor Kohl at Reichstag Red carpet on Reichstag steps priior to Reagan arrival. MCU looking up at columns & carved stone work w/ carving: “Dem Deutschen Volke”. Car & Chancellor & wife arriving & walking w/ others up to doorway. Mayor Eberhard Diepgen visible. 15:15:21 German soldiers standing on pavement in front , German flag flying above building. Man waiting & walking down stairs. 15:16:18 Police car, motorcycle escort & limousine arriving. Secret Service around, open doors & President & Nancy Reagan out w/ West German President Richard von Weizsaecker & wife, greeted; shaking hands. Led to the Kohls, shake hands at bottom of red carpet. Much handshaking & talking. Someone calls out: “Mr. President, what do you think about the demonstrations here?” Question repeated, w/ “anti-American demonstrations” included as they turn near top of stairs to pose.
