14:33:51 Aerial over burning two-stack passenger ship w/ much smoke.
14:34:13 Passengers in life-boats coming ashore thru waves, past jetty w/ spectators. Bodies carried up beach, survivors helped / carried off rescue boat.
14:34:49 View of three-stack liner bow; dock building w/ people, ambulance & other cars entering.
14:35:03 Police carry stretchers off ship. CU small boy.
14:35:16 Single-stack freighter w/ tug. CU Captain. Police move stretcher off, policeman & others help injured down gangway. Woman & small boy waiting.
14:35:48 SOF, MCU man: “You see I have a watch here that stopped at exactly 25 minutes to 5, that’s the time I jumped into the water; and from then on I hung around the water trying my best not to get all excited for 7 hours.”
14:36:06 SOF, MS man w/ head-bandage standing by microphone: “..my lifebelt, didn’t have no life belt or life preserver on, so they took him on & left me there, and three hours later one of coast picked me up.”
14:36:20 SOF, MCU woman standing in blanket: “We were in the water five hours, all except, there was another girl in our party who was in another room & we couldn’t find her & I still don’t know whether she has been rescued or not. I’m hoping very much that she was.”
14:36:36 SOF, MCU man: “well about 5 o’clock I guess the only thing to do was jump overboard. I followed the French girl over & I don’t know where she got the courage to jump over; well anyway I followed her seeing that she could do it. I guess I’m lucky to be alive, that’s all.
