England, celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London w/ huge crowds in streets, double decker buses on roadside; big poster - “Victory Over Germany 1945”, high angle streets filled w/ people. 18:34:41 France, people in streets celebrate liberation, people congratulate each other, kiss, huge, high angle crowds. De Gaulle saluting CU (18:34:50). High angle city ruins; broken tanks & artillery. Man cuts hay, war prisoners in huge field, guarded by soldiers. 18:35:21 Prague rises up, battle in the city. People arrested on street, crowds push German trucks, burn Nazi flag. CU Czech newspaper headlines announce that they will sanitize Republic. They drive out Germans, people w/ belongings in horse carriages, lines of Germans on the road. Germany, returning people join millions on streets after losing homes; streets full of homeless people.
