CU ice, crew members look at the ice piled up, CU ship’s deck & guns covered in ice. 05:34:36 Ship’s deck, anchor chain etc. coated in ice. High angle ship on the water, CU big gun blocked w/ snow, thick ice layer on rail, frost fog raising from water, crew members clear ice off ship. Chipping. 05:35:49 Man on bridge giving orders. Big machinery oiled as ship turns. LS ship, men at the map plan the route & shout instructions out to bridge. Ext ship, black smoke from the stack, CU control panel, various gages, ship goes into full speed, man w/ binoculars look at nearby ship, flag pulled up pole, man gives orders in the motor room. 05:38:35 Guns pointed to side, firing, black smoke from guns, CU guns, continues shooting, man gives order to lower the flag, flag lowered, guns turned back into place, high angle empty quiet deck. 05:39:55 Men in kitchen, bring big blocks of meat, man operates big meat grinder, minced meat, big bowl of meat mixed & salted, man puts tray in the oven. Men make meat balls, huge trays of meat balls placed in kettle & boiled, man opens food cans. 05:41:00 Men sing along w/ accordion player, darn & sewing socks, iron clothes CU man sews big hole in sock, all sing. 05:41:49 CU large wake behind the ship, LS ship at sea.
