WWII - 1940 ca, France: Blitzkrieg Thru France German troops & others working on pontoon bridge. 01:00:22 German infantry column w/ weapons moves thru nearby field w/ soldiers marching past camera. Several German tanks past & over pontoon bridge; most of the tanks are Panzerkampfwagen II. A German officer waves at the tanks as they pass on crowded road. 01:01:08 Staff car pulling light artillery & column of infantry & light artillery cross broad plain w/ soldiers pulling smaller field pieces along road, then across field. MCU radio unit moving with them. Infantry & a half-track armored fighting vehicle are crossing river bridge. Officer & aide getting briefing. More bridge crossing. 01:02:03 Damaged building. Infantry & military vehicles on nearby road, portions of which have been covered w/ corduroy. 01:02:15 Large railroad cannon firing from several angles; a series of explosions seen in distance. 01:02:46 German horse-drawn artillery in field moving forward; French prisoners in the field in opposite direction. MS French soldiers carrying wounded / injured. 01:03:08 MS Maginot Line w/ Fort de Brimont in ruins. Loose horse walking slowly past. Escorted French prisoners; wagons of goods pulled by horses w/ soldiers riding. 01:04:17 Empty French city streets, ornate barricaded Cathedral. 01:04:22 Fast tank passing on country road; slowly thru damaged town. Smoke rising above rooftops. 01:04:44 Soldiers along grass-lined ditch w/ smoke rising from town in background. Running past burning buildings & fires, burning barricade timbers & rooftops. Tired Infantry advancing across field. 01:04:44 Horses attached to wagons & carts; cars, animals & wagons stopped on road by fighting.
