There were 5 warships & 2 transports including a cruiser. We dropped our bombs from about 4200 ft & had to fly thru heavy anti-aircraft fire. Just as we were about to turn away we were hit by about 12 Zeros who gave us a rough time; they shot out our no. 1 engine & you ought to ask our tail gunner about that ride home.” 10:09:03 Slate, same.
