Over land & cloudy mountainside. Map locating Laos between Thailand & Vietnam. 22:16:50 President Kennedy at lectern during news conference: “Its important as a sovereign power who people desire to be independent, & its also important because it borders the Mekong River & quite obviously if Laos fell into Communist hands it would increase the danger along the northern frontiers w/ Thailand, it would put additional pressure in Cambodia & it would put additional pressure in South Vietnam; which themselves would put additional pressure on Malaya. So I do accept the view that there is an interrelationship in these countries & that’s one of the reasons why we’re concerned w/ maintaining the Geneva Accords as a method of maintaining stability in Southeast Asia. It may be one of the reasons why others do not share that interest.” Vietnamese War; Cold War; Anti-Communism; Domino Theory; NOTE: Sold at per reel rate.
