Actuality footage of disaster aftermath: razed hill with black smoke wafting, ruins, rubble, destroyed buildings with men working, smoke. Skeletal buildings blown up. Pans across street scenes of ravage and destruction. St Patrick’s Church taken down. 15:08:48: Firemen and female relief workers having lunch in ravaged street. People standing still amidst the debris and destroyed buildings. 15:10:22: Market and Powell Streets with Western National Bank in rubble guarded by soldiers to protect against looters. Large square with many horse-drawn vehicles of various types, filled with people. Same square with the odd automobile amidst mostly horse-drawn traffic. All wagons filled with refugees. 15:13:30: The first trolley down Market Street approaches camera, overcrowded, badly damaged building behind. Crowds follow streetcar and try getting aboard. 15:14:31: Ferryboat to Oakland, overcrowded with refugees. 15:15:49: Crowd of refugees disembark from ferry in Oakland.
