Cat pawing at dangling string while sitting on man asleep; tilt up to reveal daughter playing prank. 04:00:43 Restaurant, Charlie Chaplin as waiter, taking order from food that man (Mr. Stout) has spilled on himself. Chaplin short changes man. Double-take, chases C. & gets his change. 04:01:50 Gags re swinging doors, cook w/ long beard, argument in kitchen, C. mixes wine into cocktail shaker, adds raw egg, etc. Adds hot water from urn. 04:03:20 In dining room, CU man discovers a brush in his food. In kitchen Chaplin throws cocktail mix on chef who goes mad / anger. All intercut w/ restaurant mix up. 04:04:39 Re-issue art title: The Flirty and Mr. and Mrs. Stout. CU arguing, he walks off & she enters restaurant, C. pulls chair from under fat Mrs Stout; breaks arms off chair & seats her. 04:05:13 Kitchen & more swinging doors / kitchen gags. CUs Flirtatious man winks at Mrs. Stout (in drag) joins her table. Mr. Stout enters Skating Rink & sits next to young woman (Purviance) who laughs at him & & does stupid tricks. 04:06:07 Chaplin & manager in kitchen threatening then fight. Both deliver trays to tables w/ more gags in restaurant w/ other waiters & Chaplin tests sharpness of his knife by slicing a hair off his head. Hunk of meat falls off table. Client gets meat on him. C. holds up leg of meat, hits waiter with it. Restaurant owner intervenes. More fist fighting. Customer gets thrown out. 04:08:35 Roller-skating rink. Mr. Stout falls & a lot of slipping & falling. 04:08:58 In kitchen C gets ready to leave w/ hat & cane. Out of restaurant, goes to rink, sits on bench next to young woman & flirts. Mr. Stout falling. 04:10:23 Chaplin enters, skating very well. Knocks over fat Mr. Stout. Chaplin skating, pretending to fall knocking others down. 04:11:50 Chaplin on side, flirts w/ woman; trips Mr. Stout w/ his cane & joins young woman. They skate holding his cane. 04:13:36 Chaplin & Stout fight on skates, slapstick w/ woman applauding. Eventually all fall down. Chaplin hooks cane on passing car & escapes.
